Abstract: ABSTRACT: This study focuses on the ultimate strength assessment of the Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) sandwich-structured composite blades of a current turbine under normal and abnormal conditions. The structural response was evaluated through finite element analyses that reproduced the interaction between the core and the FRP layers. This study discusses the design extreme loads assessment, the finite element modeling of the blades, and the related strength criteria to be considered.
