Title: Interfacial effects on magnetostriction of CoFeB/AlOx/Co junction

Abstract: Abstract: Saturation magnetostriction (λ<sub>s</sub>) of Co Fe B / Al O <sub>x</sub>/ Co magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) has been measured. There are three kinds of MTJs in this study, i.e., glass / Co Fe B (t<sub>A</sub>)/ Al O <sub>x</sub>(δt<sub>o</sub>)/ Co (t<sub>B</sub>) with t<sub>A</sub>+t<sub>B</sub>=150 Å ; t<sub>A</sub>=100 , 75, and 50 Å ; and δt<sub>o</sub>=0–30 Å . When plotting λ<sub>s</sub> as a function of δt<sub>o</sub> , the curve is concave up. We also investigated the compositional distribution of Fe, Al, and O across the tunneling part of the Co Fe B (75 Å )/ Al O <sub>x</sub>/ Co (75 Å ) junction. Based on these results, we propose a model to describe how the total λ<sub>s</sub> is affected by the Co Fe B / Al O <sub>x</sub> and Al O <sub>x</sub>/ Co interfaces.
