Abstract: Abstract: The ESM, a method in user experience research, allows researchers to gather users' daily
experiences over time in a natural setting. Feedback on ESM for self-reporting has improved the
performance of user experience collaboration. However, empirical evidence of this is scant. We
developed mobile AP2, an ESM for self-reporting tool to collect user experience data. The subjects
who recorded any event or a specific activity in daily life on a mobile phone and sent it to mobile
AP2. We propose two feedback types: the Graphic-Feedback and the Message-Feedback. We
employed an ANOVA analysis to clarify the relative contribution of these variables and Flow
Model to predict the alterations. The results show that Message-Feedback was significantly
superior to Graphic-Feedback for attaining the flow state. However, in Graphic-Feedback that only
showed the quantity of the report notes, the challenges were insufficient for the participants, and
their skill were too low. Furthermore, their abilities worsened, and they became apathetic toward
the process. This study that using different feedback types affects not only the subjects' emotional
states but also the quality of data collecting and reporting. However, more research work is needed
to establish a better user experience.
