Title: Determination of five polyether ionophore antibiotics in egg and fresh milk by liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry

Abstract: Abstract: A LC/MS/MS method for the simultaneous detection and confirmation of five polyether ionophore antibiotics in egg and fresh milk was developed and validated. The analytes were extracted and injected into the LC-ESI-MS/MS system on a C18 column in gradient mode and an isocratic elution was performed. Results showed good repeatability, and recoveries for the five polyether ionophores used in egg and in milk averaged 90.5∼95.0% and 95.0∼104.7%, respectively. This method was suitable to confirm the presence of ionophore antibiotic residues at concentrations of 0.5∼1.5 ppb in egg and fresh milk, respectively.
