Abstract: Abstract: That Halosarpheia as presently conceived is polyphyletic has been sufficiently demonstrated in recent years (Kong et al. 2000, Abdel-Wahab et al. 2001, Anderson et al. 2001) and a generic reclassification was deemed necessary. In three papers concerned with species of Halosarpheia and related genera with polar unfurling ascospore appendages (Campbell et al. 2003, Pang et al. 2003a, b), a subdivision of the genus was proposed. The acceptance and publication dates of these papers overlap and therefore nomenclatural priority for the new names proposed in these papers must be established.
