Abstract: Abstract:Experiments were conducted on preventing damage to net cages from waves andstrong current by reducing the swash through adjusting the tension in the mooring ropes. In this study,a 40 cm×40 cm×32 cm traditional net cage and a new design mooringrope net cage were used as models in a current-wave water tank. There were 4 kinds ofsinker weights fastened to the bottom of net cage. The tension of the mooring rope wasadjusted and measured under different flow velocity(V)and wave heights(H).Theresults are as follows:In the same condition,we can determine that the maximum tension of the new mooringrope can reduced to 55% of a traditional net cage and the instantaneous tension of thenew mooring rope was reduced to 44% of the traditional mooring rope when against strongwaves and current.Due to the design of the elastic space, the new mooring rope net cagecan reduces the maximum tension and instantaneous tension against strong waves andcurrent. This information was used in the development of an anti-wave mooring rope andprotects the net cage.
