Title: 台灣東部橫跨黑潮海域夏季水體層化現象對基礎生產力變動的影響初步研究
Preliminary study of the effect of summer stratification on primary production across the Kurshio region east of Taiwan

Abstract: 本論文分別利用2009年(2009/9/21-23)與2011年(2011/7/26-28)兩個夏季航次橫跨台灣東部黑潮海域 (東經121.7-123.5o之間)之現場觀測資料,探討此海域基礎生產力的變化及其與海水層化的關係。研究發現在近岸受到湧升作用影響或是主軸受到營養鹽往上輸送量增強作用影響之測站,其基礎生產力均有較其它測站高,若不將這些資料統計在內,2009年9月及2011年7月航次100公尺以淺平均之積分葉綠素存量分別為31.0±6.5、33.9±6.3 mgChl m-2,無顯著差異;平均之基礎生產力則分別為399±50、193±23 mgC m-2 d-1,2009年9月之結果顯著高於2011年7月,光合作用效率(單位葉綠素之基礎生產力)在2009年9月之結果亦顯著高於2011年7月,是因浮游植物種類組成差異所造成,2009年9月主要以超微浮游植物為主(>50%),2011年7月超微浮游植物所占的比例則相當低(<12%)。2009年近岸受到黑潮湧升影響以及主軸區受到營養鹽往上輸送量增強的測站,其高基礎生產力可高達約680 mgC m-2 d-1,是同航次平均值的1.7倍。2011年在同樣受到近岸黑潮湧升影響測站雖然也有相對較高值(255 mgC m-2 d-1),但卻較9月航次為低並僅為同航次平均值的1.3倍。整體而言,葉綠素存量與基礎生產力的高低變化與硝酸鹽躍層的深度(水下硝酸鹽濃度高於表水濃度達1 uM時的深度)呈現相反的趨勢,顯示營養鹽往上輸送程度的高低是控制研究海域基礎生產力變化之原因。在與水體層化程度(水下200公尺與10公尺的密度差)的關係上,本論文發現層化程度愈高硝酸鹽的躍層深度反而愈淺,葉綠素存量與基礎生產力也反而有愈高的趨勢,與過去前人的報告相反,原因是由於研究海域的層化是由黑潮西方邊界流的沿岸湧升所調控,而非由表層海水升溫導致的層化使然。
Two summer cruises across the Kuroshio east off Taiwan on September 2009 and July 2011 were investigated. Hydrography, nutrients, chlorophyll and primary productivity data observed from the cruises were used to study the spatial and temporal variation of phytoplankton chlorophyll and primary production and their variability with water stratification. Higher chlorophyll and primary production were found at station near the coast due to the effect of Kuroshio upwelling along the coast. In addition, very high chlorophyll and primary production was found on September 2009 cruise at station located in the center of the Kuroshio main stream due to the uplifting of the nutricline. Exclude these hot spot, spatial averaged of chlorophyll inventory above 100 m for the two cruises showed no difference and the value were 31.0±6.4 and 33.9±6.3 mgChl m-2, respectively. Spatial averaged of primary production for the September 2009 cruise (399±50 mgC m-2 d-1) was much higher than the July 2011 cruise (193±23 mgC m-2 d-1). Higher specific primary productivity on September 2009 cruise than July 2011 cruise was because of the difference of phytoplankton species composition. Picoplankton was dominated on September cruise, but only less 12% picoplankton appeared on July cruise. The effect of summer stratification on nutrient availability and primary production was opposed to the previous study. Nutricline depth was negative correlated with the intensity of stratification. Chlorophyll inventory and primary production were positively correlated with the magnitude of stratification. Because the intensity of stratification was induced by isotherm uplift due to the coastal upwelling on the west side of the Kuroshio.
