|Abstract: ||abstract:Transportation technology is one of the most crucial areas in the human life. Many researchers have been involved in a wide scope of related research activities aiming to enhance efficiency, comfort, and safety of transportation systems. Analyzing the spot of car accidents, there are about 1/3 accidents happened near crossroad. Most of these accidents are critical. Therefore, built-in driver support systems to assist the drivers in hazardous situations are of utmost importance. During the past four years, this subproject developed an Omni-directional Vehicle Control system.To achieve this goal, anti-lock brake control for brake-by wire system, a traction control system, and trajectory estimation for auto-parking, an independent steering-by-wire system, a variable geometry suspension system, and electronic power control modules for advanced automobile Engine were developed. In addition, the bird’s view of the host vehicle provided by other subprojects incorporates with the lane departure warning system proposed in our subproject can provide the drivers the surrounding traffics and warnings if there are any abnormalities during the lane departure process. Finally, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control system, a real-car experimental setup should be applied. However, this must spend much time, manpower and money to build or to conserve the equipment. The Virtual-reality Car Driving Simulator is applied to solve the all above problem. This project promotes the domestic research competence both of automobile and transportation industries by developing the intelligent transportation system (ITS) core technologies and system integration abilities. The success should bring academic research benefits for ITS in Taiwan and achieve the international levels.|
