Abstract: abstract:Catch rate of swordfish for Taiwanese longline fishery in the North Pacific Ocean was standardized using the general linear model (GLM). The standardized CPUE had been stable during 1995-2000 within a range between 0.08 and 0.19 fish per thousand hooks. The standardized CPUE increased to 0.3 fish per thousand hooks in 2001, decreased again to 0.2 fish per thousand hooks in 2003, and increased to its maximum of 0.32 fish per thousand hooks in 2004. The nominal CPUE in 2002 and 2003 (0.9 and 0.8 fish per thousand hooks, respectively) are high compared to other years, which need to be further checked.
