Title: Efficient Identification of Vibrio cholerae by PCR Using sodA Sequence and Serogroup RAPD Differentiation

Abstract: Abstract:The Vibrio cholerae superoxide dismutase gene (Vc sodA) was used as the target for species identificetion.Results revealed that Vc sodA sequence-based PCR specifically amplified a 615 bp DNA fragment from V. cholerae chromosomal DNA,whereas no PCR DNAs were produced from other Vibrio species tested in this study.The rapid amplification of polymorphic DNA analysis could clearly distinguish serotypes such as O1,inaba (+/-),Ogawa (+/-),O139, and NonO1 of V. cholerae under the conditions presented in this study.This combination method appears to be valuable for the rapid identification of V. cholerae and the differentiation of its serotypes among Vibrio species.
