abstract:This research aims to examine the fishing season, fishing grounds and its associated environmental factors of the flying fishes and/or their eggs in coastal waters of Taiwan. The logbooks in combination with environmental factors will be collected and examined in details for understanding the dynamics of the fishing grounds and its annual variations. The fisheries biology of the dominant species will be collected continuously. And, the cost and revenue analyses and annual variations in fishing seasons for the fishery will also be studied based on the new designed logbook and data collected by sampling vessels. The voyage distance recorder (VDR) data will also be used to crosscheck the accuracy of the logbook reports, and provide bases for the adjustment of management strategy by administrator. The biological database for flying fish and their egg resources will then be established and used for future management of these resources in Taiwan.
