摘要: Abstract:During the VIII International Marine and Freshwater Mycological Symposium held in Egypt (2001), we presented two posters intending to list most (if not all) of the past and present marine mycologists. Six years on, it is about time to update this list of marine mycologists. Linder and Barghoorn (1944) are regarded as the founders of marine mycology, as their paper was the one that triggered off significant interests in the study of marine fungi. Before the 20th century, research on marine fungi was mainly on their taxonomy and systematics while phylogenetic studies dominate in recent years. For the last 60 years, a number of mycologists who have made a significant contribution in the field of marine mycology and also nurtured many young mycologists. This poster is a tribute to these respected mycologists and an encouragement to those who have recently joined this area of research. As you will see, we do not have photographs of many of the early researchers in this field, so if you have copies, or know who has photographs, please send them to us so that we can update this for the next conference.
