Title: A new marine coelomycete isolated from Glenelg Beach, Adelaide, Australia

Abstract: Abstract:Marine fungi in Australia is comparatively well-studied with ca. 100 species described. During a short visit to Adelaide, Australia, a new coelomycete was collected on a piece of washed-up mangrove wood (resembling Avicennia) at Glenelg Beach. Abundant pycnidia were observed on the piece of wood. Morphological characteristics of this fungus were studied by light, scanning-electron and transmission-electron microscopy. Distinctive feature of this fungus is its subglobose, unicellular conidia which are surrounded by amorphous, irregular and delicate appendage. This species was compared with other genera with similar conidial morphology: Camarosporellum, Camarosporium, Dichomera, Nummospora, and Piringa. None of these genera can accommodate this fungus and as a result, Ebgjonesium adelaidensis gen. et sp. nov. is established.
