Title: Power Control Updated-Frequency Relaxation with Beamforming Array in a Rayleigh Fading W-CDMA System

Abstract: Abstract:The required updated-frequency of power control can be relaxed when beamforming array is used in the W-CDMA system. This is due to the fact that channel spatial variation can be smoothed by the beamforming array and the RAKE combining. In this paper, we will derive the relation of updated-frequency with the adopted antenna number and finger number of a two-dimensional RAKE receiver. Besides, some field measeured Rayleigh fading channel results are given to verify these characteristics.
