Abstract: Abstract:We report a theoretical study of femtosecond transient measurements applied to observe the quantum beats in the time-resolved spectra of the reaction center of photosynthetic bacteria. By numerically solving the coupled master equations, the femtosecond pump-probe stimulated emission spectra are simulated for the non-electron transfer (non-ET) case, the weak ET case and the strong ET case. For the weak ET case, quantum beasts with in- and out-of-phase relations are seen in the calculated time-resolved spectra during the one-way ET taking place. For the strong ET case, we find that a quite different phase relation appears in the calculated time-resolved spectra as the system undergoes a vibronic transition.
