Abstract: Abstract:Safronova et al (1999 Physica Scripta 59 286) used the relativistic many-body perturbation theory (MBPT) formulas to calculate the transition rates for Be-like ions. Substantial discrepancies existed between theory and experiment. In this comment, we discuss the origin of the discrepancies.
