|Abstract: ||Abstract:This study is to investigate the cost and return of grouper farming in Taiwan, Vietnam and Indonesia. One factor grouper farming location was studied to estimate their effects on farming efficiency. The MANOVA(Multivariate Analysis of Variance) results shows that farming location had significant effects on not only the cost of production but also the benefit and productivity. Based from the data that was obtained, we found out that the major production cost was feeding cost in Taiwan and Vietnam but mostly was fry in Indonesia. Besides, it was more efficiency on labor cost in Taiwan than the other two countries which due to the better farming technology of Taiwan. It also shows that worse efficiency of fry in Vietnam because of higher stocking density and the survival rate was decreased of grouper. Additionally, there was better efficiency of feed in Indonesia because of the cheaper price of trash fishes. As the results of Discriminant Function, the stocking density and the farming period were the major biological factors. The cost of fry and feed were the major factors of profit. Regarding to location of operation；grouper farming in Indonisia has several advantages as compared in Taiwan and Vietnam. First of all, the stocking densities are much better, the temperature of sea water is higher, and the marketing size is smaller there. As the results, the production period is shorter and the cost of production is lower, profitability is much higher in Indonesia than the other two countries.|
