Title: 台灣東北部海域日本電鱝之生殖生物學研究
Study on reproductive biology of Japanese sleeper ray, Narke japonica, in the northeastern waters of Taiwan

Abstract: 本研究針對分佈於台灣東北部海域之日本電鱝(Narke japonica)進行生殖生物學研究。所使用樣本係由2006年6月至2007年12月間於宜蘭縣大溪漁港採得。共採得雄性樣本378尾,雌性樣本423尾,其中包含84尾妊娠個體。去內臟重(EW)與全長(TL)之關係式經檢定顯示雌、雄間並沒有顯著差異,雌雄資料合併之關係式為EW=0.0629×TL2.5608(n=798, P<0.05)。雌、雄個體達到50%性成熟時之體長,分別為20.4公分及20.0公分。日本電鱝之生殖模式屬無胎盤胎生,左右卵巢及子宮皆具功能。根據生殖腺指數、最大卵徑的月別變化情形,以及懷孕個體體內沒有卵黃的形成,初步推測雌性個體之產仔頻率約為兩年一次,懷孕期約一年。依據生殖腺指數及成熟生精囊所佔百分比例之月別變化,顯示雄性個體的生殖週期約為一年。根據最大胎仔及最小游泳個體體長推得出生體長約為8.0公分。每胎產仔數1-9尾(平均4.07± 2.05尾),產仔數與母體全重呈明顯地正相關。由受精卵及發育完全胎仔之平均乾重,可以求得發育化學平衡值(CBD)約為1.17,顯示本種為初步形成組織營養液型之魚種。經由卡方檢定得知各成熟階段及全數的雌、雄比與1:1沒有顯著差異(P>0.05),而未出生個體的雌、雄比則與1:1有顯著差異(P<0.05)。
In total, 378 males and 423 females (84 pregnant individuals), collected at Dashi fishing port in Yilan County from June 2006 to December 2007 were used to examine the reproductive biology of Narke japonica in the northeastern waters of Taiwan. A sexes-combined relationship between eviscerated weight (EW; in g) and total length (TL; in cm), was estimated as: EW=0.0629×TL2.5608 (n=798, P<0.05). Sizes at 50% sexual maturity were 20.0 cm and 20.4 cm TL for males and females, respectively. Japanese sleeper ray is an aplacental viviparous species that possess paired functional ovaries and uteri. According to the monthly changes of GSI, monthly average maximum ova diameter, and gravid females without vitellogenic ovarian follicles, a biennial reproductive cycle remains a suitable hypothesis. Gestation lasted approximately one year. In the light of the temporal changes in GSI and proportion of mature spermatocysts, the males have an annual cycle. Size at birth was estimated as 8.0 cm TL based on the largest near-term fetuses and the smallest free-swimming neonates. Litter size ranges 1-9 (mean=4.07± 2.05) and increases with maternal weight linearity The chemical balance of development (CBD) based on the mean dry mass of fertilized eggs and near-term fetuses was about 1.17, suggesting that N. japonica was an incipient histotrophic species. A Chi-square test indicated that the sex ratios of each maturity stage and overall were not significantly different from 1:1 (P>0.05), but unborn individuals was significantly different from 1:1 (P<0.05).
