Abstract: abstract:Acidic electrolyzed oxidizing water (acidic EO water) possesses good sterilizing effect, so it has been investigated in killing toxic dinoflagellates and reducing their toxin-producing ability. The lethal concentrations of acidic EO water for exposing 24 hr on dinoflagellates, Gymnodinium catenatum, Alexandrium catenella and A. minutum, were 5%, 1% and 2%, respectively. The growth of dinoflagellates treated with 2% acidic EO water for 30 min was inhibited before stationary stage, but cell counts had no A. catenella and G. catenatum were found to be affected by acidic EO water treatment, but those of A. minutum were not. It indicated that acidic EO water plays a good effect in killing the toxic dinoflagellates.
