abstract:New data and hypotheses of western Pacific paleoceanography based on IMAGES cores have been recently developed. Particularly focused topics include development of new composite SST and terrestrial sediment input proxies in sediment
cores of the western Pacific marginal seas, new methods of time series analysis techniques, and new spectral models for interpreting the timing and amplitude of western Pacific climate dynamics. Our studies indicate a complex evolution of western Pacific monsoon, sea level, and inter-hemispheric interactions of different time and space scales. Our studies will also bring implications on future planning of IODP proposals of Okinawa Trough and western Pacific warm pool (Papua, Indonesia) scientific drilling.
