Abstract: Abstract:The high-temperature oxidation of commercial nickel-base superalloys containing René-80 (R-80), Inconel-792 (In-792), Inconel-617 (In-617), and Haynes-230 (H-230) has been studied over the temperature range 800~1000℃ in dry air. The results indicated that the oxidation kinetics of all the alloys followed the parabolic rate law, and the oxidation rate constants increased with increasing temperature. The oxide scales formed in dry air were strongly dependent on alloy-composition, consisting of Cr2O3 and TiO2 for R-80, of NiO, Cr2O3, NiCr2O4, and TiO2 for In-792, of Cr2O3 and NiCr2O4 for both In-617 and H-230. The internal-oxide particles of Al2O3 were found in R-80, In-792, and In-617, and their size also increased with increasing Al content and temperature.
