abstract:The purpose of this article was to firstly introduce the background of the introspective assessment tool, retelling, and make a comparison between recall and retelling to have a comprehensive view of the retelling technique. Secondly, this paper presented an extensive discussion about the theoretical background of retelling. Thirdly, the reviewed literature provided a full discussion of the retelling technique as an assessment tool and its scoring procedure. In the last section of the paper, some concerns of using the retelling technique as an assessment tool in the EFL context were presented.
