摘要: abstract:The purpose of the qualitative study is to describe a program that teaches reading and thinking strategies through a learner-centered, graded-readers based curriculum. Five participants who are less-proficient readers took part in this research. This program, which will last for four months, started in October, 2005 and will end in January, 2006. This program is designed to increase students’ English reading achievement, critical thinking abilities and motivation to read English text. This instructional approach combines explicit strategic instruction with student choice of objectives and graded readers.
