Abstract The aims of this study were to suggest the optimum levels of every nutrient containing in tilapia feed, and to analyze the cultural tilapia feed in Chiayi and Tainan in Taiwan. The results from the previous reports indicated that the optimum level of dietary protein, lipid and ash in tilapia was about 32%, 12% and 4% respectively. In addition, the major minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and the trace minerals, such as iron, zinc, were also required in tilapia feed. There were 16 cultural tilapia feed those were collected. The levels of crude protein, crude fat, moisture and ash of the cultural tilapia feed were measured those were 26.17□2.77%, 8.29□1.66%, 8.97□0.47% and 7.84□0.18%, respectively. The levels of crude fat of the cultural tilapia feeds were analyzed between the minimum and optimum level. In addition, the levels of non-protein-nitrogen (NPN) were 3.08□0.97%, indicating the true protein level were 23.22%. Only higher Ca, P, Na, K, Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn content was measured in cultural tilapia feed compared with those found in previous reports. From 8% SDS-PAGE analysis, we suggested that the soybean meal might be added into the cultural tilapia feed. Key words: tilapia, feed
